We don’t believe in disposable gear. Every Oru Kayak is an investment in adventure, giving you more ways to explore nature. 

Since 2014, Our story has been one of accessibility. Making kayak ownership a possibility for more outdoor enthusiasts with foldable kayaks that are lightweight, easy to store and transport. However, this has never meant they are disposable.  

 Because when you invest in quality outdoor gear, it shouldn’t be built for a single season or even a single owner. It should be built for years of memories, across many miles, and bodies of water. 

That belief is why we offer Certified Refurbished Kayaks and replacement parts. Not as an afterthought, but as a core part of how we think about product design and responsible manufacturing. 

Factory Seconds 

These kayaks may have minor cosmetic blemishes such as small dents or surface marks from the production floor, but performance, safety, and durability are completely unaffected. Rather than letting perfectly functional kayaks go unused, we inspect and certify them so they can be sold at a lower cost and reduce waste.  

Previous Owners 

We collect each one, carefully clean and sanitize it, and run a full inspection to certify it meets Oru’s performance standards. While they may show varying levels of wear and tear, performance, safety, and durability are fully intact 

Refurbished Levels: 

  • Factory Seconds: Brand-new kayaks with minor cosmetic blemishes from the production floor such as small dents or scratches. Performance is fully unaffected. Includes a 1-year warranty. 

  • Like New: Customer returns that have never been used on the water. May show minor cosmetic marks from assembly. Performance is fully unaffected. Includes a 1-year warranty. 

  • Good: Lightly used on the water with visible signs of use. Performance is fully unaffected. Includes a 6-month warranty. 

  • Fair: Well-used kayaks showing clear signs of wear. Performance is fully unaffected. Includes a 3-month warranty.
